How it works:
-
The tourney is a form of Last Player Standing tournament
consisting of a series of rounds which (usually) see one player
go out each round. The winner is the last player to survive.
-
Everybody plays BIG SCOOBY every round and only BIG SCOOBY.
- Normally a player is only playing for themself but, in a team
round, each player is temporarily partnered with another and
it's their combined scores against BIG SCOOBY that determines
whether they stay in or go out.
If there's another team round later then the players will likely
get a different partner due to players having gone out in the
intervening rounds.
- The score comes from the very last visible board prior to the
match result page, and is the difference between BIG SCOOBY's
pipcount and the player's. If he won then the player's score
is negative and if they won then it's positive.
The lowest score (or combined score, in the case of a team round)
decides the loser that round (unless there's a twist in the rules
for that round).
- There are various "twists" that scooby might introduce into a round.
He'll mention that there's a twist at the start of a round, or even
in the previous round, but won't usually give the details until later.
- Simple twists include the two lowest players both going out in the
same round or that the highest scoring player will win a free pass
for the following round.
- A more complex twist is it being a team round where players are paired
up and the pair who have the lowest cumulative score go out.
- Another complex twist is for the players to be paired up against each
other. The winners of the matches go through while the losers play scooby
as in a normal round.
- Whatever scooby thinks up might become a twist although nudity is
not usually involved. ;o)
